The Technological University of León began its operations on September 26, 1995, with the inauguration of courses carried out by C. Vicente Fox Quesada, Constitutional Governor of the State of Guanajuato, in the presence of high personalities from the Federal, State, Municipal, and the University Community.
The UTL had its origin in the request that the León Business Coordinating Council (an organization that groups 10 business chambers of the State) made to Dr. Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León, then head of the Ministry of Public Education, through a document dated October 14, 1993, in which they expressed the need for a Center for Higher Education and Technological Professional Training, which would be linked to the productive apparatus of the town: "For this reason and, having analyzed and evaluated the requirements that In the educational field we require in Guanajuato, we have detected the need to create an educational center that specializes in the professional training of middle managers of companies. For this, we have investigated the different educational institutions and we have come to the conclusion that, due to its pedagogical model and interaction with companies, the Technological University is the one that can best meet this need, felt in a large part of companies.
